Electronic fence systems can be at risk from AC surges and lightning, but this easy-to-install accessory helps prevent damage.
How Does It Work?
Electronic pet containment surge protection works in two distinct ways to help protect both your system and your home from potentially severe damage from surges and spikes usually caused by lightning storms.
Most hidden pet containment systems are based on a "boundary wire" that is buried at the perimeter of the pet's safe area. This wire is connected to a transmitter, usually located in your house, garage, basement or shed, where it is plugged into a power outlet. Because the loop wire is essentially a large underground antenna, it is in jeopardy of either being struck by lightning, or picking up excessive voltage from lighting strikes that occur on or near it. In addition, the outlet the system is plugged into is capable of damaging the system by transmitting voltage spikes caused by storms, downed wires and high voltage transformer damage.
The Fido's Fences universal electronic pet containment surge protector addresses both scenarios. The surge protector ties into your home's existing grounding system and not only protects the power supply to the system but also the perimeter/ loop wires that come in from outside by acting as a "circuit breaker."
Fido's Fences Universal Surge Protectors are compatible with all of the in-ground pet containment systems including Invisible Fence®, Dogwatch®, DogGuard®, Innotek®, Contain-A-Pet®, Pet Stop®, Perimeter Technologies®, Radio Fence®, and all others.
